Within recent memory, Shaquille O’Neal milked the superhero metaphor for quite some time during his years in the purple and gold uniform. He even tattooed the “S” on his bicep and rolled around So. Cal in an SUV with the logo on the grill.

Now Dwight Howard has flaunted the cape over two consecutive All Star Slam Dunk contests. Can you think of any other basketball players who have dared to compare themselves to Superman?

Only Shaq and Dwight, but that is one person too many for my taste. How can Dwight proclaim a nickname already existent? But then again Shaq has had too many nicknames also.
