Superman has also been known to break the speed of light while flying. He could also travel through time with precision under his own power. He has also shown to hold enough air in his lungs and enough strength in them to sneeze away a whole solar system. All this from either gravity differences earlier on to yellow sun radiation instead of red sun radiation. Why he’s not crowned god of the DC Universe I still don’t know.

It’s because, despite the fact that he can do all that…chunks of his own planet can kill him. In various interesting ways.

No one can be crowned God when all those godlike powers can be nullified by a mook waving a green rock at him saying “Neener neener neener!”

Even if Superman nukes the planet from orbit as a response, the humiliation still stands… ^_^

If you get hit into a building, you fly through it like cardboard. If you pick it up gently, they move like legos. Never mind how he manages to balance both buildings at the corners while flying. I imagine sky scrapers have some significant drag.

Holy crap, after reading some of the comments, I have to say how ridiculous it is that so many comic book fans are so incredibly pissed off by this.

I mean of course comic books are absurd and unrealistic; that’s a given (although it seems like some people haven’t noticed). He’s using them as tools to teach physics by highlighting instances that are physically plausible and ones that are not and showing why.

Stop getting all butt-hurt and read something educational.

Ha, funny thing is, in the film Superman Returns, Superman does try to grab a falling plane by the wings and it DOES SNAP OFF!

He also slows it down gradually, as opposed to suddenly which would kill everyone inside due to the tremendous deceleration and inertia.
